Bill Flynn has had a forty year career in transportation and supply chain management with experience in most modes of transport. Currently, Bill is the President and CEO of Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, Inc. (AAWW), joining the company in June of 2006. Through its subsidiaries, the company serves the global air freight market, military charter and passenger charter market with operations in 125 countries.
Prior to joining AAWW, Bill was the President and CEO of GeoLogistics, Inc. a global freight forwarding and supply chain services provider from 2002 to 2006. He led the successful turnaround of the company and eventual sale of the enterprise to Agility Logistics of Kuwait in 2005.
Bill held senior management positions at CSX Transportation, CSX Corporation and Sea-Land Service, Inc. At CSX Transportation, he was Senior Vice President responsible for the industrial unit of the railroad and was Senior Vice President responsible for Strategic Planning at CSX Corporation. Bill had a 23-year career at Sea-Land Service and, as Senior Vice President of Asia, he was responsible for the company’s business in Asia including liner shipping, marine terminal management, logistics and joint ventures in terminal development in Hong Kong and China. He led the development of key joint ventures in Tianjin and in Shanghai port operations. Bill had several overseas assignments including Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Japan and Hong Kong. Bill participated in the joint US Government maritime agreement discussions with the Government of Japan in 1996-1997 and with the Peoples Republic of China in 1998-1999.
Bill serves on the Board of Directors of Atlas Air Worldwide. He also serves on the Boards of Republic Services, Ports America LLC, Airlines for America, Business Executives for National Security (BENS) and is the Chairman of the Board of the National Defense Transportation Association.
The Financial Times named Bill as one of five Outstanding Corporate Directors in 2014. The National Association of Corporate Directors named Bill as one of the Leading 100 Corporate Directors in 2014.
